CDCP™ Code of Professional Responsibility

As a Certified Dementia Care Provider (CDCP)…

1. I will seek creative solutions as the first line approach when managing behaviours from my clients/residents that are related to dementia.
2. I will do my best to really get to know the person I am caring for and will personalize my approach to address their holistic needs.
3. I will show respect and offer dignity at all times to the individual I am caring for.
4. I will respect confidentiality of the individual(s) I am caring for.
5. I will uphold integrity at all times, even when Therapeutic Reasoning™ is required to provide the best care possible to support the people I am caring for.
6. I will continually seek ways to improve quality of life for the individual(s) I am caring for.
7. I will work as a team player (other staff /professionals /family members/friends) in providing the best care possible for the individual(s) I am caring for.
8. I will participate when I can in the on-line membership community to share and learn from other Certified Dementia Care Providers and students.
9. I will participate in ongoing education and will stay current with regards to dementia care issues and best practices.
10.  I will assume absolute responsibility for my own actions such as taking good care of myself is just as important so that I can provide the quality of care that the person I am caring for deserves.
