Our History
Dementia Solutions, or Personalized Dementia Solutions Inc., was initiated in Vancouver, BC in 2009. It was founded by its current CEO Karen Tyrell, Dementia Educator & Consultant, Author, and Speaker.
Our mission is to lead the transformation in managing dementia-related behaviours for both professional and family caregivers.
We support families caring for someone with dementia through personalized one-on-one meetings and group sessions. Additionally, we offer certification education to frontline professional caregivers, empowering them to build confidence and excel in their roles.
Our purpose is to shift from the outdated medical and task-focused model to a compassionate, person-centered approach. This new way promotes harmony and enhances the quality of life for individuals affected by dementia and their caregivers.

We believe dementia care education is essential to provide the best and most effective care possible. Until a cure for dementia is found, Dementia Solutions will continue to educate, model, inspire, create ripples of like-minded, like-hearted individuals who share our vision of challenging the status quo in dementia care; so that people living with dementia not only stay safe but also, as much as we can, work with them so they can enjoy a full and optimum quality of life.
We regularly provide several educational courses, books, apps, no-cost talks for non-profit organizations, live monthly consultations, and helpful guides for families, caregivers, and care homes all across Canada.
