Our History
Dementia Solutions, formerly known as Personalized Dementia Solutions Inc., was founded in Vancouver, BC, in 2009 by Karen Tyrell, Dementia Consultant, Educator, Author, and Speaker.
Our passion is to lead a transformation in how dementia-related behaviours are understood and supported — for both professional and family caregivers.
We provide personalized one-on-one guidance and group sessions for families caring for someone with dementia, helping them navigate challenges with confidence and compassion.
Additionally, we offer engaging dementia education and training for frontline professional caregivers, including those in recreation roles. Our programs are designed to build knowledge, skill, and confidence, empowering care teams to excel in their work.
Our goal is to move beyond outdated, task-focused models toward a compassionate, person-centred approach grounded in creativity and understanding.

We believe dementia care education is essential to provide the best and most effective care possible.
Until a cure for dementia is found, Dementia Solutions will continue to educate, model, inspire, create ripples of like-minded, like-hearted individuals who share our vision of challenging the status quo in dementia care; so that people living with dementia not only stay safe but also, as much as we can, work with them so they can enjoy a full and optimum quality of life.
We regularly provide several educational courses, books, apps, no-cost talks for non-profit organizations, live monthly consultations, and helpful guides for families, caregivers, and care homes all across Canada.
