July 21st from 7:00pm – 8:00pm Free On-line Education: “10 Ways to Manage Stress and Fend Off Dementia”

Karen talked about the latest studies on stress and how it can affect the brain. Learn 10 ways in which you can manage your stress and at the same time be fending off dementia. 

June 19th 7:00pm – 9:00pm Evening for Daughters Karen hosted an intimate educational evening mainly for daughters caring for someone with dementia, to network and problem solve together  in Burnaby.   All participants to received a FREE Dementia Toolkit for Changed Behaviours.  Appetizers and refreshments were included.    Click here to view poster.

June 24th 10:00am – 12:00pm  Cracking the Dementia Code Workshop for front-line workers at Holyburn House in West Vancouver & Hosted by Daughter for a Day

June 5th 1:00pm – 2:00pm Karen was the guest speaker for the Richmond CARP members meeting.  The topic for this meeting was “Cracking the Dementia Code for families”.

May 3rd 10:30am – 11:30am Karen provided a free talk on “Caring for the Caregiver of Dementia ” at the Royal Peninsula Retirement Resort.  

May 1st 1:00pm – 2:00pm Karen was the guest speaker for the Richmond CARP members meeting.  The topic will be “How to Maintain a Healthy Brain”.

April 26th 10:30am – 11:30am Karen provided a FREE talk on “Cracking the Dementia Code for families” at the Royal Peninsula Retirement Resort.  

April 17th from 1:30 – 2:15pm Karen provided a talk on “How to Maintain a Healthy Brain” at the White Rock Library.  See poster here.

April 4th – April 7th Karen was on a mini book tour (mini talk and book signing) for Chapters!  See poster for more details.

            April 4th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm  Karen will be in Vancouver BC at the Chapters on                           Broadway and Grandville

            April 5th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Karen will be at the Chapters in Victoria BC on Douglas                    St.

            April 6th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Karen will be at the Chapters in White Rock BC near                       24th Ave

            April 7th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Karen will be at the Chapters in West Vancouver at the                    Chapters in the Park Royal Mall

April 2nd from 10:00am – 11:00am Karen provided a talk on “How to Maintain a Healthy Brain” for the “Older Adults’ Luncheon” on the North Shore. 

March 25th from 6:30pm – 7:30pm:  Karen was a guest speaker for 5 Star Seniors Services at the West Vancouver Seniors Activity Centre,  on the topic: “Dementia Behaviours & Creative Solutions for Families”.  This was a FREE event.

 

Here were some of the events for January Alzheimer Awareness Month 2014:

January 19th from 10am – 3pm:  Shoppers Drug Mart in the Burquitlam Plaza (552 Clarke Rd, Unit 107 Clark Road) in Coquitlam will be hosting a Shred-a-thon fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of BC.  Karen Tyrell will be there to sign copies of her book, “Cracking the Dementia Code” and to offer some quick dementia support if time permits.

January 23 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm: Concept Group Financial Ltd. will be hosting an education event at their office located at 2222 St. John St. in Port Moody. Karen Tyrell will be the guest speaker on the topic: “Wandering and Dementia: Making sense of it.”  (In light of the recent situations of those with dementia who have gone missing or who are still missing)  Seating limited.  Please register by calling  604-939-2345

January 26th from 1:00pm – 3:30pm: Come take part in the Tri-Cities Investors Group Walk for Memories in support of the Alzheimer Society of BC being held at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre.  Go to www.AlzheimerBC.org to learn more.

January 30th from 10:00am – 11:00am: Karen Tyrell will be presenting, “Cracking the Dementia Code – For Families” at the  Glen Pine Pavilion in Coquitlam.   This is a FREE event but seating is limited. To register, please call: 604-927-6940.

January 30th from 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Five Star Senior Services will be hosting a free education session at the Vancity Branch located at 5064 Kingsway in Burnaby.
